Building Collapse
Two British expats were taken to hospital yesterday after their apartments collapsed on them.
Police in Orihuela Costa south of Alicante had to cut through iron bars to reach one of the Britons and pull him through a downstairs window amid fears his home would crash down on top of him.
Another was taken to the Torrevieja University Hospital suffering shock following the collapse, at an estate called Laguna 3.
Some 15 homes on the estate have been evacuated and nearly eight are said to have been affected with large cracks which will prevent their residents returning in the short-term.
The incident happened at around 8am and followed a day in which residents reported hearing strange creaking noises on the estate.
Sniffer dogs were mobilised to search the rubble and rule out the possibility anyone was trapped.

Ryanair Strike
Irish airline Ryanair has said that 150 of 2,400 flights are being cancelled tomorrow due to a cabin crew strike planned in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. All affected customers have received three day’s notice of the cancellations the company said on Twitter.
Flights to and from the Balearic and Canary islands will not be affected by the strike
the Public Works Ministry has set the minimum services that Ryanair must provide after talks between management and unions failed to convince workers to call off the strike.
Under the established minimum services, the low-cost airline must operate all domestic flights between the peninsula and the Balearic and Canary islands.

Barcelona Police Action
Catalan regional police yesterday removed tents set up last year by pro-independence activists on a central square in Barcelona.
Police descended on Sant Jaume Square in front of the regional Parliament building, where they dismantled the camp over “security concerns.”
A spokesperson said it was not an operation to evict those camping out but rather to remove structures inside which dangerous objects could be concealed.
Officers piled the materials into a fenced-off area on the square, before loading up a van and taking them away from the site.
Benidorm Bar Closure
AFTER years of pressure from neighbors a pub on the Costa Blanca is being forced to close by the Supreme Court.
The Tiki Beach on Benidorm’s Levante beach has been the subject of noise and behavior complaints by neighbors for years.
And now a court has ruled in favor of the neighbors and ordered the closure of the establishment in a decision that can’t be appealed.
Loud music and the behavior of the clients, mostly tourists, were cited by the community of owners of the Santa Margarita building in their call for action.
