Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and his Canadian counterpart and host, Justin Trudeau .. yesterday in Montreal sealed a progressive alliance to deal with global challenges such as climate change and gender equality.
The two leaders met during the first visit by a Spanish premier to Canada in 15 years.

Young Scammer

OFFICERS of the Guardia Civil have arrested a teenager who was running an online scam involving the purchase of second-hand products.
An investigation began when police learned of several complaints that had been filed in Gijon and Velez-Malaga by people who had been cheated out of their sales .. he was tracked down to Torrox.
In a raid officers were able to recover bicycles, tablets, and mobile phones.

Family Dealers

MEMBERS of the same family have been arrested for allegedly selling drugs to young people in a Torrevieja school. It’s understood that three generations – a grandmother, mother and grandson – were involved.
According to reports, the 16-year-old boy was the alleged trafficker of marijuana, cannabis resin and even cocaine among his fellow pupils and other connections within the municipality.
The three detained were two woman aged 61 and 37 and are Columbian and Spanish nationals.

Solar Power

Enel Green Power has started construction of an 84.7-megawatt solar power plant in Murcia.
The Totona project is set to begin operations in the third quarter of next year.
The facility will be able to produce about 150 gigawatt hours per year, which will help to prevent the emission of roughly 105,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Lost Man

POLICE are investigating the disappearance of an Irish man on the Costa Blanca who hasn’t been seen since the early hours of Sunday September 16.
Carl Carr, aged 38, was last seen at the Ambiguous dance event at Cabo Roig, Orihuela Costa, near Torrevieja.
His partner, Danielle appealed for any information on his whereabouts on social media.
She pleaded to anyone with any information to contact the Guardia Civil or National Police.

Film Star Death

Al Matthews, a US actor, singer and former Marine who served in the Vietnam War, was found dead yesterday at his home in Orihuela Costa. He was 75 old.
Matthews retired here in 2005. He starred in Superman III The Fifth Element and Tomorrow Never Dies , but was best known for playing Sergeant Apone in James Cameron’s movie Aliens.
In Britain he achieved success as a singer, reaching number 16 on the UK Singles Chart with a song named Fool, in 1975.
