British Death

A BRITISH holidaymaker has died after falling over the edge of a steep roadside.
Reports suggest the 72-year-old man tripped and fell over the edge of a barrier and plummeted 12 -feet to waste ground below while holidaying in Menorca
The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning after the man had spent a night out with a friend.
He was apparently returning to his hotel on the island’s south coast.
A passer-by discovered the man’s body and emergency services arrived shortly after.
The unnamed holidaymaker is thought to have been staying on the island with his wife.
Guardia Civil officers say that early signs suggest the incident was an accident.

Bullfighting Referendum
THE LEADER of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has proposed a national referendum should be held to decide if bullfighting has a place in Spain’s future.
In an interview Iglesias admitted it would be impossible to ban the tradition “by decree”, but said “it would be good to ask people”
The Podemos leader said he would advocate: “asking citizens if the majority want bulls in their villages or not.”
This summer there has been several controversial incidents involving the animals.

Migrant Arrivals
Spain’s maritime rescue service says it has saved over 440 migrants crossing from North Africa over the weekend.
The service says it pulled 447 people from 15 small boats intercepted by its rescue craft on Saturday. Except for one dinghy carrying 12 people found near the island of Mallorca, the rest were rescued off the southern coast.

Big Hole
A SINK-HOLE on one of Madrid’s busiest streets and just above a metro line caused massive rush- hour traffic jams on Friday.
A mains drainage company had been digging into the road to repair pipes when a huge hole opened up.
The huge underground pipe burst on Thursday, and is expected to take at least 15 days to repair.
