Bad Weather
Huge waves destroyed seafront apartment balconies prompting a number of evacuations.
Footage shows waves reaching the third-floor of a block of flats in Mesa del Mar on Tenerife.
65 apartments in two blocks facing the ocean had been evacuated.
The incidents happened after regional government officials decreed a state of alert as a fierce storm battered the north of Tenerife and other parts of the Canary Islands over the weekend
Garichico was one of the worst-affected areas, with waves crashing over the sea wall and flooding streets.
Further south there were also reports of waves breaking the windows of a hotel restaurant, although again there were no injuries.
The first evacuations were carried out around 10pm on Saturday night, with more following around 2am yesterday.

A HOTEL in Marbella was been struck by lightning as the Costa del Sol and inland areas of the provinces of Malaga and Huelva are being battered by freak storms.
The Spanish national Met Office, AEMET, says that the severe alerts will remain in place until 11pm tonight.
A man has to be rescued from his vehicle in a swollen stream in Monda.
Civil Protection volunteers are also reporting that 15 families have been cut off by a landslide on a rural road in Yunquera.
On the mainland Valencia and parts of the Costa Blanca have been placed on red alert today for torrential rain.
Twenty town halls in the region, including Javea and Denia, have announced schools will be shut today because of the weather .

Animal Cruelty
HUNTERS have hit back after a video of dogs and a deer falling off a cliff during a hunt went viral.
The footage has been blasted by animal welfare groups after being reported by on line Yesterday.
Animal rights political group PACMA said “It’s time to demand responsibility from politicians who are insensitive to the suffering and lives of animals.”
Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias tweeted: “The people responsible for this atrocity only have one name; criminals.
The incident happened near the village of Herreruela in Caceres.
In the video, dogs can be seen running towards a wounded deer on a cliff edge.
It’s not clear how many survived.
pro-hunting lobbies said the incident was an ‘isolated accident’ and blamed the sad affair on the ‘instinct and the nature of the dogs’.

Migrants
Twenty-two migrants have gone missing in the waters off Morocco’s Atlantic coast after their boat capsized yesterday.
Three people managed to swim to shore and alert the authorities after the vessel hit trouble.
Local media said the migrants had been aiming to reach the Canary Islands.

Murder
The National Police are investigating the circumstances of the alleged murder of a 27-year-old man, whose body was found yesterday morning in Alicante, having suffered six gunshot wounds.
Neighbours alerted the police to the presence of the body of a man in a pool of blood in the north of the city.
officers quickly identified the man who has a history of both violent crimes and crimes against property.
The investigation is still open to determine if the killing was as a result of an altercation, or if it was in settlement of a debt, although other options are being taken into account
