Yesterday saw large amounts of rain across the East coast with some parts of the Northern Costa Blanca under a red alert from the Met office
Torrevieja experiencing severe flooding the City Council were forced to halt public transport after more than 100 litres of rain fell in the space of only a few hours.
Motorists accessing the N-332 towards Orihuela Costa were trapped in their vehicles as sections of the motorway were cut off.
One firefighter call-out involved an ambulance in Torrevieja, where the emergency vehicle was unable to transport a patient through a waterlogged area of the city.
On the Costa del Sol a video has appeared on Social Media shows big recycling bins hurtling down a flooded road among traffic in Marbella and San Pedro de Alcantara.

Child Pornography
AN international child pornography network producing and distributing material in 27 countries has been identified, and 14 arrests made in Spain.
A further four suspects are being investigated, and the identities of more than 400 ‘users’ who viewed the images on WhatsApp groups have been passed on to Europol and Interpol.
The Guardia Civil worked with the European agencies to identify those allegedly involved in circulating images in Cadiz, Galicia, Barcelona, Madrid and Salamanca.
The investigation, known as Tygra’ began in October of last year, during which 15 home searches were made.

Judges Strike
ALMOST 4,200 judges and prosecutors walked out of courts across the country yesterday in a national strike over pay rates, working conditions and the running of the justice system.
The strike saw almost 3,230 judges and more than 970 prosecutors take part, according to trade unions. It is the second strike on such a scale this year.
Judges in a joint statement: They were calling for essential reforms needed so that the courts can properly fulfil the constitutional function that corresponds to them.”
The Ministry of Justice issued a statement which only confirmed that almost 19 per cent of staff had taken part in the walkout.

World Cup
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said yesterday that he had pitched the idea of a joint bid between his country, Portugal and Morocco to host the 2030 World Cup.
The north African country has failed five times to bring the tournament to the shores of the Mediterranean, with the United States, Canada and Mexico most recently beating them to the 2026 competition.
The official bidding process is set to begin in 2020.
