Catalan Strikes
Thousands of Catalan civil servants joined strikes and ongoing protests by students and health workers yesterday to demand more funding and better working conditions.
Barcelona police say that 8,000 joined a downtown march to the regional parliament. The strike paralyzed many public services leaving some schools and universities empty.
Workers and student unions say that austerity measures implemented at the height of the 2008 financial crisis haven’t been reverted despite five years of continued economic growth.
A similar protest on Wednesday by fire and health workers ended in clashes with anti-riot police.

Electric Scooters
TRAFFIC authorities are planning new regulations covering hoverboards, or electric scooters – including speed limits.
The DGT wants to keep the scooters as a form of transport for which a licence is not needed, but says their users will still be subject to alcohol limits and drug bans, and will be tested in the same way as drivers.
The measures have come under discussion in light of the first pedestrian death caused by a hoverboard, this week in Barcelona when a 92-year-old lady was mowed down by two young people riding one.

Wanted Man
BRITISH police have issued an urgent appeal to find a wanted man who they believe has fled to the Costa del Sol.
Luke Daniel Clarke who’s 22, was due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on November 22 to be sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply Class B drugs.
Officers fear the man from Nuneaton in Warwickshire, has fled to Marbella or Malaga
Clarke has previously pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply in connection with a different incident in 2016.
