The Spanish Met Office was issued a Red Warning for the Orba area of Heavy rain possible today .. the warning is reduced to Amber from Mid Afternoon.

Environment Protest
Environment group Greenpeace said Saturday six of its activists boarded a tanker off Spain loaded with palm oil to protest against a product they claim is Dirty and Nature-damaging.
The activists were held by the captain of the ship after they boarded at sea.

Brexit
Spain has set up contingency plans in case there is no final deal on Brexit. Junior EU affairs minister Luis Marco Aguiriano said: “If the United Kingdom leaves without a deal, so does Gibraltar … what we want is an orderly exit.”
Spain welcomes the inclusion of a protocol on Gibraltar in the draft Brexit agreement but has not given up its claims on the British overseas territory, he added.

3 Life Sentences
A judge yesterday handed down three life sentences to a Brazilian man convicted of the gruesome
murders of his aunt, uncle and two young cousins.
A jury in Guadalajara found Patrick Nogueira guilty of premeditated murder earlier this month. The
judge announced Nogueira’s sentence yesterday saying parole reviews would be allowed.
Nogueira’s aunt and uncle were in their early 40s and his cousins were 1 and 4 years old at the

Pre Christmas Strike
Workers at Amazon’s biggest logistics centre in Spain are planning to strike for eight days in November, December and January, including on the online retailer’s “Black Friday” sales bonanza, a union said yesterday.
The employees at Amazon’s San Fernando facility near Madrid have been demanding better wages and work conditions for months and have already staged strikes this year, to no avail.

Alternate Medicine
The government has announced plans to eradicate alternative medicine such as acupuncture or homeopathy from health centers.
The proposal, unveiled by the science and health ministers, aims to avoid the “potential harmful effects” of the practices when they are used as an alternative or a complement to regular treatment based on science the government said in a statement.
It didn’t make clear what it regarded as alternative medicine, but gave the examples of acupuncture and homeopathy. “Many people still believe that some treatments work despite there being no scientific proof available,” the statement said.… Read all the news

Climate Change
Spain yesterday said it wants to outlaw the sale of new diesel and petrol cars from 2040, the latest European country to target polluting vehicles to try to cut emissions.
Pedro Sanchez’s government included the proposal in a draft document for an energy transition law which also calls for Spain to completely decarbonise its economy by 2050.
The announcement comes a year after Britain and France both pledged to ban new diesel and petrol cars by 2040, while Norway is aiming to end the use of all cars running on fossil fuels by 2025.… Read all the news

Climate Change
The government is eyeing ambitious steps to tackle climate change, including a ban on the sale of Petrol and diesel cars from 2040.
The government presented a blueprint yesterday that foresees an end to state financial subsidies for fossil fuels and a prohibition on fracking.
The working document contains plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 37 percent by 2030 and to feed the national energy grid exclusively from renewable sources by 2050.

Rabies
A BRITISH father-of-two has died in the UK from rabies a couple of weeks after being bitten by a cat while on holiday in Morocco – a popular day trip destination for holidaymakers on the Costa del Sol.
Omar Zouhri, 58, was bitten by a cat 30 miles from the Moroccan capital of Rabat.
He did receive treatment in Morocco and the UK, but allegedly was not given vital anti-viral drugs in time.
The disease is nearly always fatal if treatment is not given soon after the bite or scratch.… Read all the news

Catalan Independence
A Spanish court has ordered former Catalan leader Artur Mas to repay the costs of organizing an illegal vote on independence four years ago.
Mr Mas and nine other former officials have to repay €4.9m of public funds.
The independence consultation of 9 November 2014 was a forerunner of last year’s disputed referendum.
Carles Puigdemont, who succeeded Mr Mas and now lives in self-imposed exile in Belgium, condemned the court ruling.
Writing on Twitter, he described it as “an abuse and an unworthy arbitrary act”, and likened Spain’s new Socialist Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to his conservative predecessor, Manual Rajoy.… Read all the news

Migrants
The maritime rescue service and the Guardia Civil rescued 258 people from the coast of Andalusia this weekend. The rescued migrants were taken to different cities .. 139 were transferred to Málaga, 41 to Almería and 15 to Vélez-Málaga.
The body of a man from sub-Saharan Africa was found in Ceuta .. the body of another was found close to a beach in Cádiz.
Meanwhile
police have recovered the bodies of two Moroccans from a boat that reached Spain’s coast after crossing the Mediterranean with migrants and a hashish shipment.… Read all the news
