Flooding
Parts of the Spanish Mediterranean coast have suffered torrential rain in the last 24 Hours
At least five people have died and several are missing in flash flooding on Majorca. The Army have sent more than a hundred emergency workers with sniffer dogs. Among the fatalities are a British couple who were swept away while travelling in a taxi. The driver remains missing.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will visit the areas affected by flooding later today.
The Costa del Sol was battered through the night and early this morning by torrential rain that left streets awash and homes and garages flooded
There are also reports of flooding in Barcelona.
Stolen Babies
A North Yorkshire woman who believes her baby was one of thousands stolen at birth from a Spanish hospital has urged a retired doctor to come forward and reveal what he knows about the scandal.
Ruth Appleby believes her daughter was taken by child traffickers from a hospital in 1992.
Eduardo Vela was the first person to go on trial over the scandal – but was acquitted because of time limitations..
Tiger Mozzies
TWO cases of dengue fever have been confirmed in Spain for the first time.
A tropical disease passed on by mosquitoes, dengue causes high fever, general body aches and pains, and vomiting.
There is no vaccine, and anyone who travels to rural areas in the tropics is normally advised to use strong fly repellent.
The confirmed cases are two Spaniards from the same family who live in Murcia and are said to be in their 50s or early 60s.

Slot Machine
National Police in Alicante have arrested a man who allegedly obtained more than €2,000 from a slot machine.
According to reports, he manipulated part of the machine’s mechanism so that every time he put a note in the machine to obtain credits, he was able to get the note back.
It was discovered that he was able to win three major prizes with this method, and so the next time he arrived the owner called the National Police who promptly arrested him.

State Visit
The Japanese prime minister will visit Spain next week as part of a European tour that will also take him to France and Belgium.
Shinzo Abe is due to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Oct. 16, to renew the bilateral partnership agreement which expires this year.
