Opinion Poll
Support for the PSOE Socialists was seen rising ahead of the April 28 election in a poll of polls published by El Pais late yesterday though the ruling party was expected to fall well short of a majority.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s party was seen winning 27.3 percent of the vote, up since he announced the snap election on Feb. 15, while the main conservative opposition, the PP saw support drop to 20.0 percent.
far-right party Vox rose sharply to 12.1 percent, while support for Ciudadanos fell to 16.3 percent and Podemos to 13.8.
The results are an average of several opinion polls.

Benidorm Death
A man appeared in court yesterday accused of killing a fellow Scot in Benidorm.
The unnamed 33-year-old went before a judge after being arrested at Alicante Airport on Sunday.
He is accused of killing 33 year old tourist Jim Clark who was pronounced dead at the scene of an incident in Benidorm’s Little England area just after 3am on Friday.
Sources close to the investigation said he’d continue to be probed on suspicion of a crime of homicide while he remains in jail.

Missing Journalist
Spain’s Foreign Ministry says it is trying to find out from Venezuelan authorities why a journalist with dual Spanish and Venezuelan nationality has been detained.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said the Spanish embassy in Caracas is in contact with the family of reporter and activist Luis Carlos Diaz.
Venezuela’s National Union of Press Workers said on its Twitter account that Diaz went missing in the middle of Monday night after a unit from the intelligence police turned up at his home and took away computers, mobile phones and money, among other items.

Drug King Pin Arrest
A man dubbed Portugal’s biggest drug smuggler has been arrested in southern Spain on a European arrest warrant issued by Portugal.
The arrest of Franclim Pereira Lobo comes three years after Police launched Operation Achilles – which dismantled a network of links between traffickers and police inspectors.

Inditex Results
Zara’s owner Inditex , the world’s biggest clothing retailer, reported annual earnings slightly below analysts’ expectations this morning hurt by a strong euro and sending its shares lower.
Inditex shares tumbled more than 5 percent in early trade as investors digested the disappointing full-year results.
Inditex launched Zara online sales in 106 new markets in November.

Earthquake
A magnitude 4.0 earthquake was recorded in Andalucia at 3.40am this morning.
A further 13 seismic movements were registered in the provinces of Cadiz and Sevilla.
The main quake had an epicentre of Olvera according to Spain’s National Geographic Institute.
The emergency services did receive calls reporting the shocks but there are no reports of any damage to property or personal injuries.
