Airline Strike
Ryanair says it has cancelled 190, or about 8% of its 2,400 scheduled flights this Friday.
The airline has adjusted its schedule in the face of strike action being taken by unions in Spain, Belgium, Holland, Portugal, Italy and Germany.
The Irish airline says this will affect 30,000 passengers, who have been notified by text and email.
The long-running industrial action by Ryanair staff centres on working conditions.
Workers based in countries other than Ireland are unhappy that Ryanair has been employing them under Irish legislation.
Staff claim this creates significant insecurity for them, blocking their access to state benefits in their home country.

Stranded Migrants
The Portuguese government yesterday said it had reached an agreement with Spain and France to welcome some of the migrants on board the last private rescue ship operating in the Mediterranean picking up migrants attempting crossings from Libya.
The NGO’s SOS Méditerranée and Doctors Without Borders, which jointly operate the migrant rescue ship Aquarius, had on Monday called on the French authorities to allow its vessel to dock at the southern port of Marseille.
The French government refused to grant permission with the country’s economy minister, saying it was not the closest safe port and European rules had to been adhered to.
