National Day
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was booed on Friday during his first October 12 military parade since he took office in June. When the convoy of official cars made its way down the Castellana boulevard in central Madrid, thousands of people began to jeer and whistle at him.
The crowds also chanted “Out, out!” and “Elections, elections!” at the Socialist Party prime minister, who came to power after successfully filing a no-confidence motion against Mariano Rajoy of the Popular Party. After initially saying he would call Spaniards to the polls, Sánchez has since said that he will see out the current legislature, which is due to end in 2020.
Meanwhile
Thousands flooded the streets of Barcelona on Friday for protests on national day.
unionist demonstrators waved Spanish, Catalan and European Union flags as they marched through the city centre.
Protesters carried signs criticizing separatist leader and regional president Quim Torra and former leader Carles Puigdemont, who is now in self-imposed exile in Belgium.
Elsewhere in the city, riot police separated a small counter-demonstration from unionists.

Drugs
THE Guardia Civil have impounded 8,000 marihuana plants in Campello, Muchamiel and Alicante.
They also arrested six people, all of Dutch nationality frustrating plans to sow a further 20 plantations with 80,000 plants.
Five of the detainees were remanded on drugs charges and defrauding an energy company, as the three raided plantations all used illegal electricity connections to provide heating and ventilation for the plants.
Robbery
An armed gang robbed a gambling shop in Marbella.
The group, carrying at least two guns, stormed the high street casino in San Pedro de Alcántara shortly after midnight on Friday.
The group made off with more than €8,000. Two shots were fired but no one was hurt during the raid.
The three men have yet to be arrested. The National Police are investigating.
