More than 100 rescue workers searched through the night for the missing boy. He is believed to have been in a car with his mother, who is among the victims.
His sister, who was also in the car, survived and was rescued.
The Balearic government estimates that more than €23 million of infrastructure damage has been suffered following the freak storm.
Record Breaker
A JETSKI record breaker called in police after his latest attempt was almost ruined by thieves in Spain.
Marinus du Plessis was travelling from the Arctic to Athens to complete the longest-ever journey made on a jetski in 40 days.
But the South African had to cut his 11,000km Guiness World Record attempt short after thieves in Barbate, Cadiz, stripped down his jetski for parts while it was docked overnight.
He said a security alarm went off at 3am but by the time he got to it the equipment was all stolen.
“To make matters worse they returned the next night to strip down the rest.”
Plessis was making the epic journey on behalf of Gift of the Givers Foundation – a charity for disabled people in South Africa.
He still managed to beat the previous record by more than 4,000km.
Police are analysing CCTV footage to try and identify the thieves.
Venezuela.
Spain’s foreign minister yesterday compared the death of a Venezuelan activist in government custody with cases that took place during his country’s fascist dictatorship when prisoners being interrogated suddenly “jumped out of the window.
Fernando Alban, a Caracas city council member accused of taking part in a failed drone attack on President Nicolas Maduro, died on Monday while in pretrial detention in an incident that has sparked international outrage.
Authorities say the 52-year-old committed suicide by jumping out of a 10th-floor window of the state intelligence service headquarters, but his supporters counter that he was murdered.
Minister Josep Borrell said the Venezuelan government would have to “give explanations, just like any country would have to if this kind of event took place.”
“People don’t jump out of windows from a tenth floor, something must have happened for this to take place,” he said.
The United Nations, European Union and several countries — including Spain — have asked for an independent investigation into what happened in Caracas.
Historical Artifacts
FOUR people have been arrested for allegedly being complicit in the plundering of an archaeological site in Spain.
Guardia Civil officers have recovered 92 rare objects said to be of ‘great historical value’. They have been taken to a museum in Burgos to be studied.
The arrested men and four others are suspected of crimes of damage to archaeological sites, misappropriation and receiving the items illegally.
An expert report showed that the metal items had been recently dug up. Police then launched an Operation to investigate the illegal trade in antiquities in the region.
