Schoolgirl Death
A British schoolgirl on holiday with her family on the Costa del Sol has died after eating an ice cream.
The nine-year-old is believed to have gone into anaphylactic shock after suffering a severe allergic reaction.
The primary school pupil and her family were staying at a hotel in Mijas she was allergic to milk and nuts.
The incident happened on Friday, with local media reporting she died on Monday afternoon at Malaga’s Materno Infantil Hospital.
The child, who has not yet been named, is said to have been rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital near Marbella on Friday before being transferred to a specialist children’s centre in Malaga in a ‘critical condition’ on Monday where her condition deteriorated.
News of the tragedy comes as health chiefs confirmed they were probing the death of a woman who fell ill after eating at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Valencia.
The 46-year-old had eaten wild mushrooms during a meal to celebrate her husband’s birthday.

Boy in Hole
Local Firefighters and Police of Cartagena successfully rescued a seven-year-old boy trapped inside a hole in Murcia.
Emergency Services received a call yesterday afternoon that a child that was stuck in a hole and not able to get out.
Firefighters were called to the scene, along with the Medical Coordinator of the Emergency and Sanitary Management team.
The Firefighters were able to free the boy and revealed that he had not been injured but requested an ambulance to take him to hospital for checks.

Drug Bust
In an operation between the National Police and the Guardia Civil 22 people have been arrested on suspicion of being part of a gang that manufactured, cultivated and distributed drugs throughout Spain and Europe.
Simultaneous raids were carried out across Madrid and Badajoz, with 25 venues being searched, resulting in the arrest of the gag, all of Chinese nationality, and the seizure of 10,500 marijuana plants and 250 kilos of packed buds which were prepared sale.

Graffiti Jail
THREE graffiti artists who forced a train stop by placing obstacles on the track, before vandalising the carriages with spray paint, have been sentenced to two years in prison.
The trio must also pay the Valencian public railway company €866 compensation for defacing the train.
The events took place in September 2011, when the three defendants, accompanied by a juvenile, placed ‘pallets and metal objects’ on the line.
The driver had to stop the train and The defendants took advantage.
They were originally sentenced in 2015, and after an appeal, the penalty was upheld this week.
