Brexit Preparations
THE UK has begun stockpiling food in Gibraltar and its other overseas territories to prepare for no-deal Brexit.
Military bosses have spent £23m on supplies to prepare for the UK leaving the EU on March 29.
The preparations are called Operation Yellowhammer and are part of the government’s emergency planning.
It comes after fears have grown over the difficulties of importing and exporting daily goods after Brexit.
Ammunition, spare parts, fuel and food are being gathered at military bases in Gibraltar, Cyprus and the Falklands.… Read all the news

Body Found
Rescuers in Spain found the body of the two-year-old boy who fell into a borehole near Málaga.
The boy, named Julen, disappeared into a narrow well more than 100m deep during a family outing on 13 January.
Specialist teams worked day and night in a tunnel that had been dug parallel to the narrow borehole.
The body was found in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The borehole – only 25cm in diameter – had apparently been left uncovered, although the businessman who had originally had it dug a month earlier insisted that he had sealed it.… Read all the news

Trapped Boy
Authorities say that rescue experts are using explosives to make their way through a 4-meter wall of hard rock to reach the space where a 2-year-old boy has been trapped for 12 days.
The government’s office in Malaga this morning said it took around 16 hours to dig the first half.

Missing Boy
The search for a two-year-old boy who fell into a narrow well on Jan. 13 entered its riskiest phase yesterday as miners went down a new 60-metre parallel shaft to start digging across to the well.
There have been no signs of life since the boy fell into the borehole. Rescuers found the well was blocked with earth
Children and families have been holding candlelight vigils across Spain in support of the missing boy and of the massive rescue operation, even as hopes of finding him alive have faded with each passing day.… Read all the news

Trapped Boy
Eleven days have now passed since two-year-old Julen Roselló fell down a 110-meter borehole near Málaga.
Rescuers continue to work relentlessly to reach the toddler and in the early hours of this morning finished work to shore up a 60-meter deep vertical tunnel, parallel to the borehole where Julen is thought to be trapped.
Another 12 meters of tubing were added this morning, ahead of specialist miners traveling down the tunnel in a metal capsule to begin excavating by hand a four-meter gallery to connect to the borehole – considered the most dangerous part of the operation.… Read all the news

Taxi Protests
There were more Street protests yesterday in both Barcelona and Madrid by striking taxi drivers, who are demanding more stringent regulations for online ride-sharing services such as Uber and Cabify.
In the capital protesters burned tires and containers near the city’s main convention center, where King Felipe and Queen Letizia arrived earlier in the day to officially open Fitur, Spain’s leading tourism fair.

Taxi Strikes
Striking Spanish taxi drivers demanding more regulations for app-based ride-hailing services are blocking access to a trade exhibition center in Madrid where a major tourism fair begins today.
Riot police have been deployed as the drivers, many wearing the yellow traffic safety vests used by protesters in neighboring France, burn tires and block traffic on a highway circling the capital.
The drivers are demanding regional authorities in Madrid find a solution like the one offered yesterday in Barcelona that would force users of apps like Uber and Cabify to contract rides one hour in advance.… Read all the news

Rescuers have finished drilling a vertical tunnel running parallel to the borehole where the two-year-old boy fell into nine days ago, but now find that the diameter needs to be wider
Rescuers racing to find Julen Roselló have run into new technical difficulties.
When the tunnel is ready, members of a specialised Mining Rescue Brigade will be lowered in teams of two and manually dig a four-meter gallery to connect with the borehole,
Meanwhile
The Civil Guard has taken statements from the parents of the two-year-old as well as the owner of the land and the man who carried out the digging of the original borehole

Trapped Boy
Rescuers racing to find a toddler who fell down a deep borehole nine days ago have finished drilling a parallel shaft, and will today start digging a horizontal tunnel to reach the spot where the child is thought to be trapped.
A group of specialist miners will be lowered down in teams of two and manually dig a four-meter gallery to connect with the borehole, a task that is expected to take around 24 hours.
Miners will use pneumatic tools and axes to dig the connecting tunnel, and support the roof with wooden beams as they go.… Read all the news

Shooting
A MAN has died after he was shot inside his Bentley in Marbella.
The 49-year-old was gunned down at 4am yesterday as he was approaching his home in San Pedro de Alcantara.
He’s been identified as Marco Yaqout a Spaniard, of Moroccan origin who owned several bars and nightclubs in Puerto Banus.
He was shot at more than 20 times
The gunman attacked as Marco was entering his garage in what investigators have described as another ‘settling of accounts’.
