Trump’s Latest Wall

Spain’s foreign minister has claimed Donald Trump suggested building a wall across the Sahara to tackle Europe’s migrant crisis, Josep Borrell said the US President had insisted the type of barrier he has vowed to build along America’s border with Mexico would work for Europe as well.
The former President of the European Parliament didn’t reveal when Trump put forward his radical idea. But diplomatic sources suggested it had been in June when he flew to the States in a trip coinciding with the visit to the White House of the Spanish King and Queen.
Mr Borrell revealed Trump’s Saharan wall ‘solution’ during a lunch in Madrid but made it clear he did not agree with the idea.

Hungary’s foreign ministry has summoned the Spanish ambassador over comments made by the foreign minister that labelled Hungary as xenophobic.
According to the Hungarian ministry Josep Borrell also recently said that there was no separation of powers in Hungary and no free press, describing the county as a “pseudo-democracy.”
The Hungarian State Secretary said yesterday that Borrell’s comments were “offensive and harsh” and exceed an acceptable level of criticism in Europe.

Ryanair
The union representing Ryanair cabin crew in Belgium has rejected an offer from the Irish airline ahead of a planned one-day strike across five countries on Sept. 28.
Separately, European pilots threatened new strikes against Ryanair if talks with unions did not progress more quickly.
The threatened strike by cabin crew in Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain is aimed at pressuring shareholders set to meet today to take action.
unions say they will strike once a month until their demands are met.
In another setback a Spanish judge has ruled a former Ryanair pilot should have been considered an employee and not an independent contractor.

Student Unrest
The student community of the Juan Carlos University of Madrid has called for a strike to demand the resignation of the rector, Javier Ramos, over “the numerous scandals” that are damaging the image of the university.
Students are outraged at the former rector, Fernando Suárez, who is accused of allowing plagiarism and alleged irregularities of the master’s degrees studied by politicians .. Cristina Cifuentes, Carmen Montón and the leader of the People’s Party, Pablo Casado.
The students also fear the loss of value of their degrees due to the reputation.

TV In Benidorm

A BRITISH television production company is on the lookout for Brits living or holidaying regularly on one of the best known holiday hotspots.
The fun Channel 5 show ‘OAP’s Behaving Badly’ is heading to Benidorm and is looking for Brits who are swapping the UK for the Spanish sun.
